JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF REALTORS

Scholarship Criteria for Awarding Scholarship Money

Award Criteria:

1.        Scholarships may be awarded to any member of the Board, including Designated Realtors and
Designated Affiliates.

2.        Recipient may apply for and accept other scholarship money from any other source.

3.        A recipient is not limited to the amount of scholarship money received over time.  However, first-time
recipients will have priority over individuals who have previously received a scholarship from the Jefferson
County Board of Realtors.

4.        Recognition of current and past Board participation, organizations involved in, and volunteer
activities in the community of the recipient shall be among the guidelines used for consideration by the
Scholarship Committee.

5(a).        The scholarship recipient(s) shall be selected by the Scholarship Committee’s majority vote.
While the Scholarship Committee Chairperson shall have input in the discussions, the Chairperson shall
not vote unless there is a tie vote among the Committee members.  In the event of a tie, the Chairperson
will have the final vote.
(b).        In the event the Chairperson is unavailable to vote when there is a tie, or for any other reason
there is a dissenting decision, those individual application names shall be placed in a hat, and one name
shall be picked by a Committee member.  That person will then be awarded the scholarship.

6.        If a Scholarship Committee member makes an application for scholarship money, that Committee
member must be excused from participating in the discussion of awarding scholarships.  Further, that
Committee member shall not have a vote when deciding on who to award scholarship money to.

7.        Scholarship money may not be carried over for any reason if it is not used by the deadline stated in
the application.
